Fill in the Blank Friday

I am currently sitting in a really bad, really 70s hotel room (very clean but not at all pretty) in a small town (city?) called Creston, here in lovely British Columbia.  I have a had a really fun day with PITA.  Laughing our butts of at the Quilt Show we are vending at here.  Crazy, crazy weekend running all over the province selling my wares...

1. I am looking forward to of so many things!  In the near future it is my daughter's 6th birthday on Monday and next weekend is Silver City Days. In June I will be going to Kelowna to a 4D ultra sound to find out if I will be having a niece or a nephew (kinda routing for the niece!) in October and I will be meeting a nephew that I have not met (more details to follow after meeting). In July I will be going to Vancouver for my family's annual Sports Day (very excited about that, very!).  AND the thing I am looking most forward to, in October I will be welcoming to the world my new little great-niece or nephew.

2. Something kind of embarrassing that I still love anyway is barbies. Maybe I don't still love them, but love them again.  Having a daughter is a wonderful re-introduction to the world of Barbie!

3. My favorite car is a Volkswagen Beetle (the old ones, not the new), old corvette (50s and 60s), any new, expensive, sporty convertible (Porsche Boxster, Thunberbird, BMW, whatever).

4. If I could pick one type of weather to live with for the rest of my life it would be 70 degrees, mild humidity so that my hair did not look like I got electrocuted all of the time.  365 growing season... that would be bliss.

5. My favorite thing to do after a bad/stressful day is sew until it is time for bed and then go to bed and snuggle up to my warm toasty husband so he can rub me feet with his until I drift off to sleep.

6. This weekend I will be running around the province participating in three different craft fairs/quilt shows as well as managing to keep the shop open.  Missing my kids and sharing a hotel room with PITA.

7. If I were a color, I'd be yellow because, I took two different online quizzes just now and one said blue and the other green - I think yellow.  After all I have a sunny disposition!

My photo for the week... Me! at the Creston Quilt Show.

True Love

This evening my husband said to me that I am amazing, I am just the only one who hasn't realized it. Pretty sweet, huh?

Fill in the Blank Friday

Holy Doodles, I can't believe it is Friday already! That week went by very quickly - I think because I was is full on hyper Spring Cleaning mode.

1. Fridays are meant for easy dinners and relaxing with my kids - or sewing with my Quilt till you Wilters.

2. Sunny days at the beach with my family and a really good book, fresh baked white bread, babies (of any species), teasing (me), being with my extended family, my children's happiness, a nice clean house, a finished sewing project, laughter (mine or others), kindness are all things that make me terribly happy. (I am generally pretty happy, and made happier by a plethora of things.)

3. Something that inspires me is Mum and her five amazing sisters - and their amazing Mum.

The Davidson Girls:  Susie, Mum, Gail, Diana, Marie, Brenda
4. If I had the day off today I would sew until all of my UFO's were complete, have a bath, snuggle with DH and the kids - that is what I would like to do.  Turns out I had today off but have yet to do anything of those things.  I went to an Easter egg hunt, did a little shopping and then cleaned my kitchen with, literally, toothbrush and toothpicks.

5. If I had to put a label on my home decor style, I would say my style is classic retro with a little country?  I have tiffany style lamps, a 250 year old piano, a table cloth from the 50s, a modern looking glass mosaic mirror, and of course quilts.

6. Concerning politics I would say nothing, I do not know enough about politics to say anything intelligent - shameful really considering how politically minded some of my family is.  One would think that I would have drawn from some of that!

7. I'd like to go to London to see my oldest friend who is still a friend, even though I have not seen her for TEN years.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend, talk to you soon.

My New Obsession...

I am, literally, obsessed with creating an amazing blog.

I have been restyling a new version of this one - you can see it here. I am not even close to being done but I sure would value some feedback.  I used like 27 fonts - I love fonts - and changed the background 47 times... I want perfect, I am settling for (I hope) pretty darn good.

I have been reading and reading and everything I can get my hands on about blog success. One of the places I have been spending a ridiculous amount of time is A Beautiful Mess, which leads me all over the cyber universe.  I got there after being tipped off by Krista at Twirl Designs as to what a great blog it was.  While not necessarily my subject matter it is well written, entertaining, and very informative for someone like me - venturing into the world of blogging and hoping that it turns into something great.

The draw back to all of that is that I often expect immediate success but... well I know that is not necessarily going to be the case.  I downloaded The Secret for my iPhone. Go check it out and tell me what you think!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. My favorite daily responsibility is getting my daughter ready for school. Even though I am a tired zombie half the time I love brushing out her beautiful hair and choosing what she will look fabulous in that day.

2. My least favorite daily responsibility is putting away the clean dishes. I don't know why I don't like this, it is not really a big deal. I don't mind washing them, I let them air dry and then it is up to DH to put them away.

3. My favorite cuisine to eat when going out is salmon. DH does not like fish so I don't eat it at home very often and I love, love, love salmon. Truth be told I love food, period.

4. My favorite cuisine to prepare at home is ...I love to cook almost everything! That is precisely how I obtained my sleek figure. (tongue in cheek).

5. Andy Warhol said that everyone is famous for 15 minutes. My claim to fame is    probably when I ran for Miss. Grand Forks (that is Grand Forks British Columbia, not North Dakota) in like 1990. Maybe the "press" I got when I started Sugar Shack Quilting.

6. If I could have 3 wishes I would wish for a never ending bank account, life time health and happiness for all of my loved ones - especially my children, and the ability to time travel.

7. My biggest pet peeve is the sound of crinkling plastic or open-mouthed chewing. I have issues with sounds in general. I also have a bit of an issue with empty Pepsi cans, DH drinks a LOT of Pepsi and they always seem to be everywhere. I am driven to distraction by any mess that is not my own .

And because a post is less of a post without a photo, this is a shot of my daughter and her BFF. Mine is the one in white.

The People I Love

So today, PITA read my blog and comment on the fact that I did not mention her.  Wha!  Consider yourself mentioned my pesky little niece.  I love you!

I could not find a picture of you on your Uncle's computer that made me happy - so here is one of Gramdpa.  I love him too. :p

Number 16

Something that could probably have made the the 15 Interesting Things list is that I love to read.  I am an escapists and it works well to take me away while keeping me pleasantly entertained.

I am currently just finishing up Time Weaver by Shana Abe that has been an entertained easy read.  Not usually into romance, I was drawn to the science fiction/fantasy aspects of the book.  I would recommend it - it would be a really great book for a day at the beach.

15 Interesting Things About Me

Wow. 15 things seems like a lot. Maybe they will just be facts and not so much interesting... here goes.

#1. I have an incredible long term memory. I mean truly remarkable. I remember details about everyone I have ever met and can tell you details from birthday parties I attended in elementary school. Until like last year I thought this was normal. My short term memory, however, not so good.

#2. I do not like to be told what to do. You can guide me into doing what you want me to do but if you tell me, I am NOT going to like it and most likely not going to do it.

#3. My family is everything to me. My husband, my kids, my parents, my brother, my in-laws, my nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. I have been down more than one bumpy road only to discover that they have stood by me when others have not.

#4. I am crazy about my husband and truly believe him to be the nicest person I have ever known.

#5. I have an unusually high white blood cell count and rarely get sick - although at the moment I have had a nasty cold for almost a week!

#6. I think I am very funny and sometimes make myself laugh until I cry and need to be reminded to breath.

#7. I am a lover not a fighter and hate confrontation. Not to say that I am wimpy, I just hate to have anyone mad at me. My Mum seems to think I am the fighter of the family - she says I am a shark - but I think that is only with her and my brother and maybe sometimes my husband because I know they will let me get away with it and still love me.

#8. I believe in ghosts. There is no doubt in my mind that they exist. I have had some experiences that cannot really be explained any other way.

#9. It is hard for me to call someone a friend and when I do they had better not let me down. I feel very deeply and do not get over being hurt easily. Maybe that should be another point about me. I could write a whole post about it.

#10. I have been married twice. The second time has been so much easier and more about the important stuff in life - family, love, respect. The first time was more about how things looked to others and being young and taking what seemed like the next logical step.

#11. I am very uncoordinated until I have a couple of drinks and relax. And then look out dance floor! I come from a family of dancers. We all love to do it but only a couple of us is any good at it.

#12. My Mum is one of six girls. Those six girls are the most remarkable (some of them are even Googleable) women I know and I adore them all. Between them they produced 17 equally amazing children and there are only 4 boys!

#13. I blow my nose 90 times a day. I am hardly even exaggerating.

#14. I get super freak nervous when I am going somewhere I have never been before.

#15. I find it next to impossible to see the glass as half empty. I recently read a quote "If plan A does not work, don't worry about it there are still 25 more letters in the alphabet.". That totally works for me. I can always see a bright side and mange to find something good even in the worst situation.

So, like I said, I am not sure if those are interesting things about me or if they are just things. It was an easier list to come up with than I thought it would be so maybe I will do it again sometime.
